UNBIASED COVID-19: THE OFFICIAL DID(N'T) PERSPECTIVE
With enormous information published and the earnest desire to get to the root of what is really happening, it had become increasingly difficult to relegate the news of the coronavirus to the background given that the virus situation is practically affecting every aspect of the normal human life which triggers a proactive human response.
It now becomes a situation of being caught up in the two extreme contradicting approaches to the same situation: Ignoring to focus more on other things or actively taking part because of your concerns.
This can definitely wear down any individual very quickly and ultimately give room to entertain various forms of information; propagated, factual, historic and scientific information on the subject of the coronavirus.
While the above stands as an issue, we are considering an unbiased approach towards various information on the novel virus.
Arguably, the official status of "No one knows much about the coronavirus situation" does play a very significant role in this subject matter. While this might be an approach to check the spread of wrong information by the official, it has evolved to drive deep investigation into what is surrounding the coronavirus situation.
This has widely become apparent across multiple societies as people drastically evolve in dynamic ways especially during a crisis. What we see is that the little information being made official creates a huge information gap that drives misinformation and propaganda that the officials mitigate against. A result of the official declared knowledge on the coronavirus losing credibility.
Knowing fully well that our google-enabled society promises satisfactory results to our thought-provoking investigation which will always be preferred to the official statement. I strongly propose that the officials connect the dots across various information published on the coronavirus perceived to veer people off and make attempts to debug it rather than just declaring "little is known about the coronavirus situation."
Also, knowing the people generally have a proactive and probing response to issues that directly affect their existence and well-being, it really sounds incoherent to visualize the society (both as individuals and groups) to sit back and settle for the status that "I am in a bad situation and there is little we know about it". The next question becomes: what are you doing about it or waiting for?
In addition, the above situation puts the officials in three difficult positions. It makes the officials prone to be perceived as lazy to find out what is going on. It portrays the officials as reluctant to share information if they know already. Finally, It portrays the officials as inherently ignorant for accepting such an ineffective status. Just one reason is enough to deter people from settling with the official status.
With all being said, I plead that everyone be patriotic, united and solution-driven in this era of coronavirus outbreak. Together we can!
